August 31, 2020, is the International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event that aims to raise awareness that overdose death is preventable and to reduce the stigma associated with drug use and drug-related deaths. During COVID-19, the number of fatal overdoses has increased in Maryland and elsewhere without much public attention. We should all remain vigilant. If you or your loved ones have been charged with a crime, there are many state and county opportunities for treatment within the court system that can save your life, help you achieve sobriety, and keep your record expunged. If you are interested in treatment – whether it is for diversion, as a condition of a Stet disposition or probation, or as a commitment under the Maryland General Health Article sections 8-505 and 8-507, or if you are considering enrolling into Drug Court, contact us. Isabelle is the Attorney Liaison for Drug Court in Montgomery County.
